Once a year, a local risk assessment is carried out by the local occupational health and safety committee. Based on this risk assessment, the committee establishes a number of local procedures, if necessary. The risk assessment guide is available here (in Danish).

The local emergency response plan consists of the following:

  • Relevant shared guidelines and instructions (alarms, fire, accidents, evacuation etc)
which are available on this website.
  • Procedures for handling local risks/threats. The local occupational health and safety committee prepares these locally.

Evacuation drills

Evacuation drills are held regularly at Aarhus University. Annual evacuation drills must be held at all faculties and in all administrative divisions – either for the entire area or for parts of it.

As a rule, staff and students must be informed about the upcoming evacuation drill in advance. However, it is up to the faculty or administrative division in question to decide whether to provide information about the exact time of the drill or just state a specific date, week or month. A well-planned drill will last approximately 15 – 30 minutes from the evacuation signal is given and until everybody is back in their offices/classrooms etc. All drills must be held with due consideration for exams, laboratory experiments and other daily operations.
