Applies to all employees at Aarhus University who are covered by the Circular on Leave for Family Reasons (Cirkulære om tjenestefrihed af familiemæssige årsager) between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Central Federation of State Employees’ Organisations for public servants and staff with public servant status and the Danish Central Federation of State Employees’ Organisations for staff employed under a collective agreement.

Employees at Aarhus University are entitled to paid leave for up to 5 days per child within 12 consecutive months for their hospitalisation together with their own children under 14 years of age. The same applies if the child stays at home during hospitalisation.

The 5 days can be taken separately or together, or it is possible to agree to take the 5 days as 10 half days, for example.

This entitlement applies to the child’s parents, i.e. biological parents, adoptive parents or other custodial parents.

If both parents are covered by the agreement, i.e. both parents are state employees, a maximum of 5 days of paid leave can be taken for the parents combined.
