Near-accidents

Incidents which could have developed into accidents at work, but where no bodily injury was caused, are called near-accidents/near-misses. Near-accidents must be registered locally to reduce the risk of recurrences.

How to register a near-accident at work

The ‘Near-accident’ form must be filled in by the person involved in the near-accident, providing personal details and information about the time and place of the near-accident and describing the course of events.

The form must then be submitted to the occupational health and safety group, which will follow up on the near-accident and fill in the rest of the form. The occupational health and safety group then sends a copy of the completed form to the local occupational health and safety committee (LAMU).
