Slides from meeting with Danish Immigration Service
An update on what's new about immigration rules and regulations for PhD students and researchers, what are the procedures on how to apply for residence and work permits, and other. Slides are in Danish.
LanguageCafé at the Main Library
Want to improve your foreign language skills - German, Danish, English, Chinese, French, Spanish or another language? The Main Library will provide the setting for a new language café, or mutual language teaching as it is also called, on eight Mondays (from 30 April until the summer holiday).
Transferable skills course for Ph.D. students
Call for AU participants. University at Buffalo (SUNY), 23 July - 3 August 2012 Two-week Residential Programme on Transferable skills.
14-29 May: Intensive Danish Class for foreign PhD Students and Staff
The International Centre in cooperation with Lær Dansk (network of language centres in Denmark) is now offering an extra intensive Danish course in the spring 2012. The course targets foreign PhD students, researchers and spouses at Aarhus University and take place on campus. The course is free of charge.
23 May: Seminar on Aarhus Symphony Orchestra
A presentation of both its history and the setup of an orchestra in general. Time: 15:00.
24 May: Expat in Denmark: The Danish Tax Return - What's in it for me?
EiD would like to guide you through the process, and - if possible - make sure you're not paying too much on your tax return.
24 May: Professional networking dinner
This Expat Dinners will be held with a professional twist. This means getting the chance to air your business cards or maybe finally make good use of your LinkedIn application on your smartphone, because its time to network!
29 May: Connect Aarhus invites to a workshop "Culture shock - recreating identity in a new country"
Many foreigners living in Denmark are not prepared for the psychological effect of how the new cultural experiences can affect us. This workshop aims to arm participants with knowledge and tools to help them make the most of their time in Denmark.
30 May: International Pot-Luck event to end the Spring Semester
Time: 11:00.
31 May: PhD Café with Live Music: Pil & Liv
Pil & Liv will perform at the PhD Café. They are young Danish singersongwriters and they also just happen to be sisters. Time: 18.00. Place: Dale’s Café, Dale T. Mortensen Bygningen, Høegh-Guldbergs Gade 4. Read reviews from their latest performances.
31 May: Health PhD Association Event: “Secrets of presentation technique – how to present your research using efficient rhetorics and slideshows”. Annemarie Brüel from theDepartment of Biomedicine - Anatomy and Linda Greve from the AU Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation will be the invited speakers to this after-work meeting. Time: 14.00-16.00. Place: Dale T. Mortensen Building, Conference Room 1
31 May: European turmoil, while the sun rises in the east?

Teaching in mother tongue for children
The municipality of Aarhus offers free teaching in mother tongue for children with at least one parent holding a passport from a non-Danish EU/EEA country. The teaching takes place in the school year 2012-13. Last year there were enough pupils for classes in French, German, English, Polish, Spanish and Icelandic. For more information, contact Møllevangskolen: moe@mbu.aarhus.dk. The sign up deadline is 25 May.
9 June: Connect Aarhus invites to a workshop "The art of networking - your way into the job market"
Raghad Pedersen from Raghad Health, Safety & Leadership will talk about the importance of a professional network and how you get started. Sign up no later than 29.05.2012

The university’s website is being redesigned. The design and content will therefore change, and you may experience for a while that old and new sections are mixed together, and that the content is not in its usual place.

We hope that the new website will make up for any inconvenience, and that you will enjoy greater coherence throughout and find the website simpler to use.

Why are we making a mess?

In the time ahead, you will notice a mixture of old and new designs in the pages on the website.

In spring 2011, Aarhus University’s nine main academic areas were reduced to four, and the fifty-five departments became twenty-six. This was to unify the organisation and to strengthen the university’s interdisciplinary approach. We are now following suit by restructuring the entire website to ensure more coherence in the content and design.

Such an exercise takes time – and we hope you will bear with us!
