Printings, editions, translations and re-publishing books as e-books

Printings:

If your book is reprinted, it is called a printing. Prints should not be recorded in PURE as they are a copy of an earlier release. This also applies if a new printing is released by a new publisher.

Editions:

If your book comes in a new edition, for example. 2nd Edition, New Revised Edition, etc., you must register it in PURE.
Note the edition in the "Edition" field.

Add ISBN to the "ISBN" field.

Translations:

If your publication is translated, you can register it in PURE, but as it is the same publication, it will not trigger BFI points again. Therefore, as a personal user, you must type "Translation of [Original Title of Origin]" in the "Bibliographic Note" field. Your validator will then register the translation correctly.

As a validator, in the "Publication Status" field, select the status "Published" and write the year of the translation publication. In the "Submission Year" field, note the year of the original version publication year.

In this way, you avoid the publication getting double points.

Enter the translated title in the "Title" field.

The original title is listed in "Bibliographic Note" as described above.

Reissue books as ebooks:

If your printed book, for example, Published in 2010, and the same book is published as an ebook in 2014, it is the same publication and it should not trigger BFI points again, even if it has received a new ISBN. You must therefore, as a personal user, type "Re-Publish as e-book" in the "Bibliographic Note" field. Your validator will then register the translation correctly.

As a validator, add the year of publication of the eBook under status 'Published'.

In the "Submission Year" field, note the year of the original print version publication year.

If your publication is published as a printed book and as an ebook the same year, you must only register the publication once. In the field "ISBN (Print)", type ISBN for the printed version and in the "ISBN (Electronic)" field, type the ISBN for the e-book. In this way you register both releases in a registration.
