Newsletters in Campaign Monitor

Getting started

At AU, newsletters are distributed via the Campaign Monitor program. The following guide will help you to get started:

1. Consider the purpose

Is a newsletter the right solution? Recipients welcome newsletters – but can also find them a nuisance, especially if they receive a lot of newsletters, in which case they are never read. Consider the purpose of the newsletter for you and the recipient. Wherein lies its value? Are there any other and better ways of communicating with the intended recipients?

2. Getting access to the system

To order a newsletter, send an email to TYPO3 support at typo3@au.dk. In the email, please state:

  • Which template you want to use for the newsletter.
  • Language(s) – Danish, English or both?
  • The purpose of the newsletter. What is the subject matter, how often will it be published, who is the target group etc.?
  • Subscription: Should the recipient be able to subscribe and unsubscribe to the newsletter? Please pay attention to the special rules and legislation that apply, depending on whether your recipients are students, staff or external stakeholders
  • Editors: State the names and email addresses of those who will be producing the newsletter.

3. Design your newsletter – and test it before sending

Remember to always put a visible sender on the newsletter that the recipients can contact.

4. Read rules and legislation applicable to newsletters

When has consent been obtained to send a newsletter, and what may it contain?  What are the requirements with respect to filing and documenting such consent?
