1.3 Training - Hazardous Waste

If hazardous waste is handled at a Department, a minimum of 1 employee must be designated as responsible for waste; this employee must have the 1.3 training for hazardous waste before work may begin.

AU's safety advisor conducts the 1.3 training and offers it as a 1-day course; the course consists of theory and tasks.

At the end of the course, the participant is able to:

• Handle and sort hazardous waste.
• Safely handle chemicals and biological agents.
• Pack and package of hazardous waste for shipment.
• Mark and label packaging for the shipment of hazardous waste.
• Fill out transportation documents for the shipment of hazardous waste to NG Nordic, Reno Nord, Marius Pedersen or other recipients.

At the end of the course, the student receives a certificate that is valid for a 3-year period.
