Language Services, Faculty of Arts

Our job is to help staff at the Faculty of Arts to communicate with students and staff who don’t speak Danish, and to communicate with the English-speaking world in general. We offer a broad range of language services:

  • Proofreading in English
  • Translation (Danish into English, and English into Danish)
  • The development and quality assurance of AU terminology
  • Language support with regard to both written and spoken English
  • Subtitles and voice-overs for videos

Our main tasks are to proofread articles written in English by the faculty’s researchers, and to proofread/translate for the Administration Centre and the Dean’s Office. For all other language tasks, please consult our external supplier, GlobalDenmark, au@global-denmark.dk. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about GlobalDenmark, or if you need help with our translation software (Memsource).

GlobalDenmark supply translations at prices which have already been agreed with AU. If you have any questions about these prices, please contact Lenore Messick, lmm@au.dk

Language services for academic staff

How can we help you?

Texts for research publications

We offer to proofread academic articles written in English by the faculty’s researchers intended for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Each researcher has a quota of 18,000 words per calendar year.

If you need more than this:

  • We will send you a list of approved freelancers, and you are welcome to contact them.
  • You will need to talk to your research programme director or school about funding.
  • You can send your text direct to a freelancer, and they will send their invoice to your school.

Other types of texts

We are also happy to proofread the following kinds of texts written in English:

  • Calls for papers
  • Abstracts (not in PhD theses)
  • Applications for research projects
  • PhD assessments

We are always happy to arrange contact with external language consultants for tasks that lie beyond the scope of what we can offer. In such cases, you should arrange funding yourself.

Deadlines

Please send us your text, along with the booking form below, 2-3 weeks before you want it back (1-2 weeks if your text is short (max. 1,500 words)).
