BSS to go first with the new LMS Blackboard

From August 2013 Blackboard is implemented as the new LMS at BSS. Blackboard replaces Campusnet and AULA. There will be a transitional period during which all three systems are operational. Centre for Teaching and Learning is in charge of introducing the system to employees.

It has now been decided that the BSS, as the first academic area at AU, will get the new Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard. As it looks right now, Blackboard is to be used from August 2013, but the exact time will be announced later.

The process is complicated by the fact that Blackboard shall adapt to many specific functionality requirements, and that the deployment of such a system in an organization of BSS 'size takes time and is difficult to plan.

Blackboard will replace the current e-learning systems such as Campusnet, AULA, First Class and others. These systems, however, are kept going until Blackboard is fully up and running and until faculty members supported by CUL have moved the documents, they want to keep, from the previous e-learning systems over into Blackboard.

CUL in charge of introduction
Besides AU IT’s major task with the technical part of the job, it will be Centre for Teaching and Learning (CUL) who will introduce the system to all employees and students at BSS.

CUL is at the moment putting the final hand on the plan for the deployment of Blackboard at BSS. As soon as the schedule is ready, specific information will come to all employees.
