Profile and homepage

With the exception of personal masterdata, the other text is edited on your personal website via your profile in Pure. Here you can also upload a picture of yourself that appears on the website.

If you need to change your personal masterdata (organisational unit, phone number, job title, institution address, etc.), contact your local Medarbejderstamkortet editor, read more here: Medarbejderstamkortet.

To edit text or upload image in Pure, click Edit Profile:

Highlighted content

Highligted content allows you to select specific pieces of content that appear on your personal homepage - the feature replaces the old 'Highligted Content' CV, if you had a 'Highligted Content' CV, it has automatically been moved to your profile.

You will find it in the left menu of your profile:

You can choose between your different content types (publications, activities, projects, etc.) by clicking on the small tabs:

The number indicates how many pieces of highlighted content there are for each content type.

Add new pieces of content by pressing the 'plus' button:

You can move pieces of content up and down the list using the arrows:

Press save to view the list on your website.

Be aware that 'Highlighted Content' replaces the list of recent contributions for the content type(s) you selected - and does not automatically update when you add new content to Pure.

Add Scopus author ID

From October 1. 2018, it will no longer be possible to set up automatic searches for names in Scopus via Pure. If you want to receive messages about import candidates from Scopus, you need to use a Scopus author ID instead.

Scopus automatically generates author profiles via an algorithm that matches names, organizational links, and subject areas from the publications indexed. You do not have to create a profile in Scopus yourself to get a Scopus author ID.

This change does not affect the name searches you may have set up in Web of Science, PubMed, or other import sources in Pure.

To add a Scopus ID, in Pure Profile Editor under 'Id', press the 'Add ID ...' button:

Select Scopus Author ID from the dropdown menu and type or paste your ID into the empty field.

If you have not already found your Scopus ID, there is a link in the form you can click - by doing so, Pure searches for your name in Scopus and lists the profiles that match the search:

Activate automated search on ID

Once you have added a Scopus author ID to your profile, enable the search.

Click 'Automated search' in the left side menu of your profile:

Click the 'Off' button next to Scopus and it changes to 'On', afterwards your search will automatically run once a day:

Potential import candidates will be visible in your task list on the right side of Pure, but if you wish, you may also receive an email when the system matches your author ID with a new publication in Scopus.

To enable it, simply tick the small box at the top of the page:

Remember to click 'Save'.

Add/remove publications on your Scopus author profile

The advantage of automatic creation via an algorithm is that Scopus can create author profiles, which in many cases are correct, very quickly and with few resources, but because the process is automated, there obviously will be errors.

That is, two people with the same name, writing within the same field, can very easily get confused with each other and get each other's publications on their author profile. This is especially problematic in fields where it is customary to use initials instead of first and middle names.

Elsevier has developed a wizard that will make it easier for users to get publications added or removed from a profile or, in some cases, to add more than one profile together.

Upload profile picture

In your profile editor, click 'Add File' under Profile Images and add the image as you attach a file to an email:

The image is automatically scaled to fit the website. However, we recommend that you do not upload too large or small images, as some browsers (or some versions of browsers) may have difficulty handling the scaling. It is not possible to upload images larger than 1MB.

From the webpage you can view the image in the original size. This typically happens by right-clicking on it and clicking 'open in new tab', 'view image' or similar depending on which browser is being used. In this way the image can be used for the press.

Be aware of the following: 

  • We recommend portrait dimensions 3:2.  
  • The image must have the file format .jpeg to be displayed correctly on all types of AU websites.
  • We recommend a file size between 200kb and 900kb and max. 1MB.
  • The image file name (which is before .jpeg) must not contain characters such as: . @ / \ ? : * ” < >
  • You can have more than one picture in Pure, but only one appears on the webpage, make sure that the one to display is at the top

Please be aware that the picture will be updated instantly on your personal website, but in order to be shown on cards on the employee lists it need a further synchronisation, that happen once every night.

Add/edit text elements

In Pure, you have different options for adding text to your profile. In the profile editor under 'Curriculum and research description', click 'Add profile information', then you can choose from four types from a dropdown menu:

Curriculum Vitae

Text created here can be retrieved as element in a CV. The advantage of using this editor is that you have more formatting options than you have in the CV module.

Further information

This item is suitable for longer text and it is also possible to insert relevant images. When you create content here, you will get a new tab labeled 'Further Information' on your webpage (the title can not be changed):

Research and education information

This element can be used for quite short texts, such as appointment times or overall work areas. The text will stand right after your personal masterdata on your personal webpage.


This element is better suited for medium length text pieces. It is separated from your personal data and automatically adds the heading 'Profile' to the content (the title can not be removed or changed).

Change display name

You can change your display name at

The display name is the name displayed in AU's systems, mail sender fields, Pure, employee lists on the web and on your personal webpage (Pure) - all systems that use personal data from AU's Medarbejderstamkortet.

Default publishing name

If you publish under a different name, for example, maiden name or without special letters, you can add a default publishing name to Pure, which automatically adds it to the contributions you are associated with.

In the Profile Editor, under 'Name Variations', press the 'Add Name ...' button. Then you will be able to enter the first and last name matching your default publishing name:
