EXTRA NEWS FROM THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM

AU will take over the former Aarhus Hospital on Nørrebrogade starting in 2019

A press conference was held yesterday about the sale of the hospital buildings on Nørrebrogade in Aarhus, the former Aarhus Hospital. The property is being purchased from Central Denmark Region by Forskningsfondens Ejendomsselskab (FEAS), in order to support the development of a new campus area in close collaboration with Aarhus University. FEAS is a subsidiary of the Aarhus University Research Foundation.

As the lessee of the buildings, Aarhus University will have a unique chance to develop and strengthen the urban campus area around the University Park.

“Aarhus University is gaining a unique framework for the expansion and consolidation of its strong position as an urban campus. In the long term, this will give Aarhus University opportunities to continue the development of a research and teaching environment of a high international standard,” states Rector Brian Bech Nielsen.

The acquisition of the property will come into effect in 2019 at the earliest, when Central Denmark region expects to move the hospital’s activities to Skejby.
