Research environments can strengthen Danish government’s new Disruption Council

Rector Brian Bech Nielsen is supportive of the new Disruption Council which was appointed by the Danish government two weeks ago. However, in a post on Altinget last Tuesday, he nevertheless encouraged the council to draw on the considerable insights of the Danish universities’ research environments.

Economics professor Philipp Schröder from Aarhus University is one of two researchers appointed to the new Disruption Council, which is composed of a total of 32 members as well as eight ministers, including the prime minister.


Pind visits Stakladen

Last week, the Danish Minister for Higher Education and Science, Søren Pind, visited Aarhus University for a debate on education with students. More than 100 eager students turned up to hear the minister’s views on, for example, the new appropriation system, edification and the universities’ role in the future. Søren Pind on the other hand was keen to pick up some good ideas for targets for degree programme quality, and invited students to make suggestions.


Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (HD) (Financial Counselling) is moving to Herning

The Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (HD) (Financial Counselling) is moving from Aarhus to Herning, more specifically to the Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) under Aarhus BSS. The degree programme will be offered in Herning from autumn 2017.


Call for applications for EURIAS Fellowships now open

The European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme is now inviting applications for 54 fellowships at 19 European institutes. Aarhus University is a member of EURIAS, and is hosting two fellowships at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS). The programme is a researcher mobility programme, and it is therefore only possible to apply for fellowships in countries other than your country of residence. The application deadline is 7 June.


Research inventions lead to cooperation and investments

Sixteen technologies from Aarhus University and Central Denmark Region were presented at Denmark’s first national trade fair for research-based technologies, hosted by Industriens Hus last Tuesday – the so-called Danish IP Fair. The aim is to strengthen the scope for commercialisation of inventions from Danish universities and hospitals. The initiative is the result of collaboration between technology transfer units at all Danish universities and regions.
