Attorney Erik Hørlyck, PhD (Law), has been appointed honorary doctor at Aarhus University. Not only does Erik Hørlyck have extensive practical experience in the field of law, but he has also acquired comprehensive academic qualifications during his impressive career, which has always been characterised by extremely high quality – including by international standards.
Erik Hørlyck obtained his law degree from Aarhus University in 1968 and has been a prominent lawyer throughout his entire career. For many years, he has advised on contractual matters in the construction industry and on contract production and planning and environmental legislation as well as conducting cases before the courts, the Danish Building and Construction Arbitration Court and the Danish Complaints Board for Public Procurement. Today, he is also a member of the Danish Supreme Court Bar Association.
At the same time, Erik Hørlyck is an extremely active and highly esteemed writer on various legal topics, especially in the field of company law and construction law. Through his many publications, he has made a significant contribution to the further development of important fields of law, especially construction law, public procurement law and company law.
In addition to his career as a lawyer and writer, Erik Hørlyck was also the impetus behind the publication 'Kendelser om Fast Ejendom', a collection of arbitration awards made by the Danish Building and Construction Arbitration Board. This initiative has significantly contributed to the development of Danish construction law.
In 2008, Erik Hørlyck received the Dreyer Foundation Honorary Award for his achievements – including numerous publications – in the field of building and construction law.
