Professor Andrew G. Clark fra Cornell University er udnævnt til æresdoktor ved Aarhus Universitet på baggrund af sit imponerende arbejde med forskning i populationsgenetik og genomik gennem de sidste 40 år.
Siden Andrew Clark var postdoc på Aarhus Universitet i begyndelsen af 1980'erne har han bevaret kontakten hertil. Hans arbejde inden for populationsgenetik og genomik er meget relevant for forskningen på Bioinformatics Research Center (BiRC) på Aarhus Universitet. Siden etableringen i 2001 har BiRC samarbejdet med ham på adskillige vigtige områder – herunder ph.d.-studerende, der besøger ham på Cornell University under deres studier.
Den nyudnævnte æresdoktor har med sin innovative tankegang gennem hele sin karriere skabt og fastholdt en førende position inden for sit forskningsfelt. Han har virket i mange prestigefulde videnskabelige organisationer, og er medlem af National Academy of Science i USA.
Han har publiceret over 400 artikler, fortrinsvis i de vigtigste tidsskrifter, er citeret over 48.000 gange, og har et H-index på 87.
