It only takes a few clicks to get hold of the free e-book that the Aarhus University Press makes available on its website every month. The Aarhus University Press has made an agreement with au.dk so that students and staff can click on the e-book directly from the frontpage at studerende.au.dk and medarbejder.au.dk.

During March, it is free to download Helge Kragh’s book Einsteins univers. En fysikers tanker om natur og erkendelse (Einstein’s universe. A physicist’s thoughts about nature and acknowledgement). However, international students and staff are also taken into account with an e-book in English. This month’s e-book is Tønnes Bekker-Nielsen’s Urban Life and Local Politics in Roman Bithynia: The Small World of Dion Chrysostomos.

The free monthly e-book is part of a venture launched by the Aarhus University Press as a supplement to books printed on paper.

- We’re put in the world to relay the university’s research as well as possible, and we think e-books have some major advantages. One of them is that it only takes a split second for knowledge to reach the furthest corners of the world, says General Manager Carsten Fenger-Grøndahl, Aarhus University Press.

When downloading the free e-books solely for their own use, readers are not required to register and there are no ties involved.

- We’d like to help our readers get acquainted with e-books, and let them experience how easy and flexible an e-book is – both as a medium and as a working tool. It’s really fantastic that you can store thousands of books on your computer, tablet or smartphone, and that you can search in the material, he says.

A new e-book is made available for downloading on the first of every month.
