IT systems on a break during the weekend 6/7 September

AU's electricity and IT systems are continually updated and maintained, but approx. once every three months we carry out all of the maintenance tasks that require the IT systems to be taken out of operation. We will be holding one of these "service windows” during the weekend of 6-7 September.

We apologise for any inconvenience experienced by staff and students due to the service window. While it may seem strange, this weekend has in fact been chosen based on a comprehensive consultation with the academic and administrative environments. Out of the upcoming weekends, this is the one that will cause the least inconvenience.

It is necessary to reroute the power supply, so large parts of AU's network and server installations will be taken out of operation. The activities that cause the most extensive disruption will take place between 12:00 Saturday and 12:00 Sunday, but there will also be services that are affected outside of these hours during the weekend.

The following IT systems and services will be affected during the service window: Network (incl. AUWLAN and Eduroam), your workstation (if it is a "domain PC"), your AU email and calendar, mit.au.dk (self-service), STADS, files saved on shared and network drives, printing services via the network, course systems such as BlackBoard, CampusNet, AULA, FirstClass and CourseAdmin, course administration systems, administrative systems as well as websites affiliated with Aarhus University and PURE.

If you are planning to work during the weekend in question, we recommend that you copy relevant material onto your computer, so you can work locally. Emails that are sent to you while the systems are down will be queued and processed as quickly as possible.

If you are interested, you can visit http://driftstatus.au.dk and follow the status of our operation and maintenance work.

Yours sincerely
