New food service provider on the way in three canteens: Temporary changes during the summer months
During the summer months, you will have a smaller selection to choose from than usual in the canteens at the Nobel Park, the School of Dentistry and Aarhus BSS (Social Sciences canteen). In some cases, you will need to pre-order your food online, and all three canteens will be shut down for short periods. This is a temporary situation, and a new food service provider will be in place when the autumn semester starts.
Nobel Park canteen
- The canteen will be open and staffed Monday - Friday 8:30 - 13:30 from 10 June through 23 August.
- The canteen will offer a limited selection of breakfast and lunch items (sandwiches and grab’n’go boxes) as well as soft drinks, coffee and other beverages.
- The canteen will be closed 29 May - 9 June – and again 24 August - 1 September.
The School of Dentistry and the Social Sciences canteen at Aarhus BSS
- It will be possible to order food from a webshop that will open 10 June.
- The Studenterlauget canteen will deliver orders at around 11:00 every morning. Customers will then be able to pick up their orders from a self-service refrigerator.
- All orders must be pre-paid.
- It will not be possible to order food online in the following periods: 29 May - 9 June, 1 -31 July and 24 August - 1 September.
From 29 May to 1 September, you can expect changes in the menu, service level and opening hours at the canteens in the Nobel Park, at the School of Dentistry and Aarhus BSS (Social Sciences canteen). This is because the contract to run these canteens has been put out to tender, and until a new contract is in place, the Studenterlauget canteen will offer temporary food service at these locations. During this period, students and staff will be able to buy lunch and breakfast at the Nobel Park canteen, while at the School of Dentistry and at Aarhus BSS, they will need to pre-order food online. At student-friendly prices, of course.
Shutdowns throughout the summer months
As usual, the canteens at the School of Dentistry and Aarhus BSS will be closed in July, when there are relatively few students and staff on campus. In addition, all three canteens will be closed 29 May - 9 June, while Jespers Torvekøkken, the current food service provider, is moving out - and again 24 August - 1 September, while the canteens are being prepped to reopen. During these shutdowns, food service will be available at the other canteens on the Aarhus campus, several of which will be open all summer.
Do you need catering for an event or a meeting?
If you need catering for an event or meeting on the Aarhus campus in the summer months (June - August), you can order from one of the other canteens on campus. The Mathematics canteen and the Studenterlauget canteen on Fuglesangs Allé can deliver throughout most of the summer.
Jespers Torvekøkken has run the canteens in Nobel Park, at the School of Dentistry and at Aarhus BSS (Social Sciences canteen) since 2021, as well as the Conference Centre. Jespers Torvekøkken has decided to withdraw from the contract as of 31 May 2024, on the grounds that the business has not been profitable under the current contract terms for quite some time. The contract to run the three canteens and the Conference Centre has been put out to tender, and the procurement office expects that a new agreement will be in place in time for the beginning of the autumn semester in September 2024.
