As soon as possible and normally no later than 3 months after receiving the higher doctoral dissertation the Deans at Nat or Tech sets up an assessment committee. The assessment committee consists of 3 members who are experts within the subject area of the higher doctoral dissertation and possess academic insight at professor level.
When the assessment committee has been approved by the Academic Council at Nat or Tech, the author is informed about the composition of the committee. Within a specified deadline, the author can take exception to the composition.
The assessment committee submits a reasoned, written recommendation in English on whether the higher doctoral dissertation should be accepted for defence. The recommendation is sent for approval in the Academic Council at Nat or Tech.
The recommendation by the assessment committee should be ready no later than 8 months after the setting up of the assessment committee.
