Kilowhat's the point? - Use energy wisely

AU will keep up the good habits and save energy. Find out what steps AU is taking to reduce the university’s energy consumption – and what you can do to contribute. The information on the site will be updated regularly.

You're making a difference

Let’s keep up our good habits and save energy. Last year, soaring electricity prices made it necessary to conserve electricity, and by working together across the university, we succeeded in making a real difference.

From September 2022 to March 2023, AU reduced electricity consumption by 16 per cent, or 4,299,306 kWh, which is the equivalent of the the annual electricity consumption of approximately 950 average Danish households. During the same period, AU cut heating consumption by 17 per cent, or 6,579,000 kWh, which is the equivalent of the average heat consumption of about 363 average Danish households. These savings are calculated against a 2019/2020 baseline.

We’ve put together this ‘Kilowhat’s the point? – Use energy wisely’ campaign to help us all keep up the good work in 2023. By taking every-day simple steps to save energy, we can all help keep the university’s energy consumption down and play our part in developing a culture of sustainable behaviour.
