Twelve AU researchers receive Sapere Aude grants

Researchers at Aarhus University have received 12 of the 41 Sapere Aude grants from Independent Research Fund Denmark. The grants are awarded to early career researchers who have delivered top-class research.

Twelve talented researchers at Aarhus University have received grants totalling DKK 73.5 million for their research projects from Independent Research Fund Denmark under the Sapere Aude: IRFD Research Leaders programme.
 

The grants are aimed at early career researchers who have conducted top-class research within their field, and the money enables them to develop their research ideas and strengthen their skills as research leaders. The goal of Sapere Aude is also to promote careers and mobility between research environments, both internationally and nationally.

"The most talented early career researchers in Denmark are helping to revitalise our knowledge, with their ground-breaking ideas. Therefore, publication of the Sapere Aude research leaders is a very special time of year, because we see so many talented researchers who will help to ensure that Danish research helps to solve society's challenges for many years to come."

Independent Research Fund Denmark has awarded a total of 41 Sapere Aude grants, and the new research leaders come from all parts of the scientific world. They have all been through a tough selection race. The fund received 356 applications. A total of 116 applications were from female applicants, and 19 grants were awarded to women. This corresponds to a success rate of 16 per cent. For male applicants, the success rate was nine per cent, with 240 applications and 22 grants.
