5-digit local phone numbers will be abolished

For technical reasons, it will soon no longer be possible to call using 5-digit local numbers.

Employees with landlines are used to being able to make internal calls at AU using 5-digit local numbers. But, from week 49, this will no longer be possible.

Avaya, which is the name of AU’s current landline system, is now obsolete and can no longer be updated sufficiently. AU IT is therefore working to replace the Avaya system with Teams Telefoni in the first half of 2022.

In order to transfer smoothly to Teams Telefoni next year, it is necessary to make some adjustments now. Therefore, from week 49, you will need to put 871 in front of 5-digit local numbers to make a call, so that all numbers contain 8 digits.

Saved contacts and any forwarding settings must therefore also be changed to include the 8-digit number.

AU IT will issue an update on the transfer from the current landline system to Teams Telefoni in January 2022.
