On 21 May, His Majesty King Frederik will cut the ribbon at the inauguration of the University City, along with 700 invited guests. The following day, the University City will open its doors to the public for an afternoon of live music, guided tours, speed lectures and open-house events.

These events will affect access to the University City on 21 and 22 May. On 21 May, parking in and around the University City will be particularly affected by the inaugural ceremony, so you may need to find somewhere else to leave your car.

Parking areas that will be closed on 21 May
Between 07:00 and 17:00 on Thursday 21 May, the following parking areas will be closed:

  • The employee parking on Trøjborgvej
  • The employee parking spaces in the parking garage under the University City, Peter Sabroes Gade 37  (Partnerhuset tenants will still have access)
  • The parking garage on Peter Sabroes Gade 8

All vehicles must be removed from the above areas by 07:00 on Thursday 21 May.

On Friday 22 May, these parking areas will no longer be cordoned off and normal parking rules will apply.

H.M. King Frederik’s attendance on 21 May: No driving or delivery of goods in the University City
It will not be possible to deliver goods or other items to the University City between 11:00 and 18:00 on 21 May due to the presence of H. M. King Frederik at the inauguration ceremony. Before the inauguration, H. M. King Frederik will also be given a tour of the University City. The East Jutland Police will be present. Please let your suppliers know that it will not be possible to deliver goods to the University City between 11:00 and 18:00 on 21 May.

Bike parking
To keep the University City as accessible as possible for the many guests on 21 and 22 May, we encourage people not to park their bikes in the University City on these days.

Access to buildings on 22 May
For security reasons and to minimise the risk of theft, all office corridors in University City buildings will be locked from 08:00 on Friday 22 May until the end of public opening celebration (around 20:00).

Staff who work in buildings 1791, 1842, 1854, Partnerhuset and the building complexes 1810-1816, 1830-1834 and 1870-1874 must remember their key card and code to be able to access their offices during the event.

Some entrances, especially entrances to buildings that are not main entrances, will be locked on 22 May to better keep track of the number of visitors in each building and ensure fire safety compliance.

If an entrance door is locked, this will be signposted on the outside of the door. All doors are escape routes and can be opened from inside.

Exams, groups rooms and study spaces
Due to the changes in building access, group rooms and study spaces will not be available on 22 May. There are a couple of exams in the University City on 21 May, and  these will take place as planned.

Canteens closed on 21 and 22 May
