AU gets an external DPO

On 1 February, Aarhus University entered into a collaboration with the law firm HjulmandKaptain, who will take over AU’s data protection officer responsibilities. This will free up internal resources to provide advisory services for researchers.

AU’s new data protection officer (DPO) is Karina Søndergaard, who works as a lawyer at HjulmandKaptain.

She is taking over from Peter Severin de Fønss, who has been acting DPO since the

Research Data Office in AU Research

was established.

Until now, the DPO function at AU has been performed in house by internal members of staff. But it has been difficult for these members of staff to combine their supervisory role with their advisory role.

Now there will be a clear division of labour. The Research Data Office at AU will provide frameworks, advice and support, while the external, independent DPO will ensure that AU complies with GDPR legislation.

If you need to contact AU’s new DPO, please continue to use the same email address as before: dpo@au.dk.
