AU’s new system to detect plagiarism is Originality from UNIwise

Originality is AU’s new system to check for plagiarism. The system was selected following a tender process carried out by AU Educational Administrative Systems and the Royal Danish Library. Originality will be in place for the winter exam season.

AU’s system for detecting plagiarism was recently put out to tender in accordance with statutory requirements, and the contract has been awarded to Originality from UNIwise, which best meets AU’s criteria for price, quality and functionality. The new system will replace the current system, Ouriginal, from the 2025/26 winter exam season onwards.

Originality will form an integrated part of the user interface in WISEflow, so assessors will recognise the design and will be able to access the plagiarism detection system easily when marking exams.

The new system also has a number of new features, including semantic similarity checks, which can identify plagiarism beyond simple word-to-word matches.

What happens next?

Work is now underway to plan the implementation process to ensure a seamless transition to the new system.

Assessors will receive more information about Originality in the autumn so that they can get to know the new system in good time before the winter exam season. The Royal Danish Library will offer courses in the new system in the autumn semester. Dates for these courses will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
