Noon today – Friday 5 July – was the deadline to apply for a university place in Denmark, and this year, 11,234 applicants picked a degree programme at Aarhus University as their first choice. This is 6 per cent more than last year. According to preliminary figures, the university has received a total of 29,355 applications.

The Faculty of Technical Sciences has seen the greatest increase in applications, receiving a total of 33 per cent more first-choice applications than last year. The main factor contributing to the large increase is the popularity of the new veterinary medicine programme to be offered on AU's new campus in Viborg.

Aarhus BSS has received 8 per cent more applications than in 2023, and here the economics and business administration programmes and psychology have proven particularly popular. The three other faculties, Arts, Health and Natural Sciences, have seen a slight decline in first-choice applications. At Natural Sciences, however, there has been a slight increase in the total number of applicants.

Pro-rector Berit Eika is pleased that so many applicants want to study at Aarhus University:

"That so many applicants are interested in being part of Aarhus University across our subjects is a big pat on the back for our degree programmes and the quality of the academic experience we offer our students. I'm also very pleased that our new programme at AU Viborg has been so well-received. I know that that everyone there is ready and waiting to welcome the many new students to the Viborg campus."

All applicants will be informed whether they have been admitted on 26 July.

Note: This article is based on preliminary application figures. Final applicant figures will be available on the AU press site at the beginning of next week.
