Press release from Universities Denmark

The new chair and vice-chair will replace Anders Bjarklev, rector at the Technical University of Denmark, and Per Michael Johansen, rector at Aalborg University, who have served as chair and vice-chair respectively for Universities Denmark’s Rectors’ Conference since 2015.

Brian Bech Nielsen would like to thank his colleagues for the confidence they have shown in him, and he looks forward to fulfilling his role as chair of the Rectors’ Conference and spokesperson for Universities Denmark:

“It’s an exciting task at a time when research and education are high on the agenda in all areas of society, and I very much look forward to working with Nikolaj Malchow-Møller to represent Universities Denmark. I will prioritise collaboration and dialogue – both within the sector and with the outside world. Universities play a hugely important societal role in providing labour for tomorrow’s labour market and in helping to solve major societal challenges through knowledge and collaboration – not least in relation to the green transition”.

Brian Bech Nielsen underlines how highly the efforts of the outgoing chair and vice-chair are appreciated by the other members of the Rectors’ Conference:

“Anders Bjarklev and Per Michael Johansen have worked excellently and whole-hardheartedly to bring the sector together and improve university conditions for research and education. We owe them a huge thank you – not least for their tireless efforts as spokespeople for all the universities in Denmark. Their work has been of great value to Danish universities and the Danish public sector.”
