Relocation process to strengthen Aarhus BSS
Aarhus BSS is facing a major relocation process, which gathers the school’s three core business departments at Fuglesangs Allé. The purpose of the relocation process is to strengthen the academic collaboration between three departments and to create new study and teaching environments across Aarhus BSS.
When employees and students turn up at Aarhus BSS after the 2017 summer holidays, the school will look somewhat different. During the spring and summer of 2017, Aarhus BSS is going through a major relocation process, which gathers three of the school’s departments at Fuglesangs Allé and at the same time creates new study and teaching environments for students across Aarhus BSS.
It has long been the plan to move the Department of Business Communication from the Nobel Park in 2017. The impending relocation process means that the Department of Business Communication and the Department of Management will both be moving to Fuglesangs Allé during the spring and summer of 2017. Here they will be sharing address with the Department of Economics and Business Economics.
In addition, a number of cross-cutting administrative units are also moving - among others the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CUL) and the library staff, which will be gathered at the North-east Corner in the University Park. At the same time, the relocation process will create new study and teaching environments at both Fuglesangs Allé and the North-east Corner, where a large area will be dedicated to the students.
Strong academic and study environments
Dean Thomas Pallesen is convinced that overall, the relocation process will strengthen Aarhus BSS - both for employees and students.
“Moving the Department of Management and the corporate communication part of the Department of Business Communication to Fuglesangs Allé must be seen as part of our efforts to gather and strengthen the three core business departments in order to promote collaboration between the three,” he explains. “At the same time, we have worked hard to ensure that the relocation process also strengthens the study environment at Aarhus BSS as a whole. That’s why we’re creating new good study spaces and social areas - both at Fuglesangs Allé and in the North-east Corner, where we have gathered a lot of the classrooms and study areas in buildings 1325, 1326 and 1327.”
The actual relocation process starts in March 2017 and is expected to be completed before the start of the autumn semester. Moving each department and administrative unit will, however, take place in short stages of two to four days at a time to ensure that employees and students can quickly get settled in their new surroundings. The students will be invited to take part in the organisation of the new study areas at both Fuglesangs Allé and in the North-east Corner.
