Two top researchers from AU win ERC grants

Professor of epidemiology Cecilia Ramlau-Hansen and professor of physics Thomas Pohl have received ERC Synergy Grants of DKK 104 million and DKK 60 million respectively.

The European Research Council (ERC) has just awarded large grants to European researchers to solve global challenges – two of them from Aarhus University.

Professor Thomas Pohl, (Department of Physics and Astronomy, Faculty of Natural Sciences) has been awarded approx. DKK 60 million for the project “Superatom Waveguide Quantum Electrodynamics”. Read about the research project in a statement from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.

Professor Cecilie Ramlau-Hansen, Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health, has been awarded approx. 104 104 million for the project  “BIOSFER - Untangling the biologic and social causes of low fertility in modern societies”. Read about the research project here

The purpose of Synergy Grants – as the name suggests – is to enable researchers to form research groups across national and disciplinary borders in order to make new discoveries that can contribute to solving common challenges.

A total of 29 European research groups with the involvement of 105 researchers have received Synergy Grants from ERC.
