What can your local occupational health and safety representative help you with?
The election to the occupational health and safety organisation at Aarhus University is over and the elected representatives are now ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. But what can your local occupational health and safety representative help you with?
Your local occupational health and safety representative helps create the framework for a good work environment in your unit – in collaboration with you, your colleagues and the management team.
Even though your occupational health and safety representative is very aware of anything that may need to be changed in connection with your unit’s work environment, they still depend on your input as an employee. If you observe anything that you believe must be taken care of, then contact your occupational health and safety representative, for example in case of:
- Harsh communication
- Offensive behaviour
- Stress-inducing conditions
- Noise, for instance in connection with an open-plan office
- Poor indoor climate, for instance problems with ventilation and draught
- Anything that may need to be changed in connection with the location of defibrillators, emergency exits, emergency response procedures, etc.
The occupational health and safety representative can bring the relevant problems to your local manager. Together they will launch projects and initiatives that improve your local work environment.
Your local occupational health and safety representative also contributes to the general development of your unit – for example by participating in the local WPA work and by analysing and preventing work-related injuries.
