If you have a sideline, it’s important to familiarise yourself with the new guidelines on declaring sideline employment. The guidelines were approved by the senior management team after consultation with the Main Liaison Committee.

From now on, you must declare any sideline employment that has a professional connection to your employment at AU by registering it in Pure. Find out what kinds of sideline employment the guidelines apply to.

The aim of the new guidelines is to create greater transparency and give both managers and staff a tool they can use to help ensure compliance with the guidelines on sideline employment. In addition, full disclosure of sideline employment can also bolster confidence in the impartiality of individual staff members as well as the university in addition to minimising the risk of conflicts of interest.

In force from 2023

Relevant sideline employment must be registered on an ongoing basis as far as possible – and by 1 March at the latest for the preceding calendar year. This applies from the 2023 calendar year. In other words, sideline employment from 2023 must be registered by 1 March 2024.

If you have any questions about the guidelines, please discuss them with your manager.
