Here’s how Denmark’s biggest Friday bar and sports day will affect parking in the University Park

On Friday 13 September, students will hold their annual sports day and Denmark’s biggest Friday bar in the University Park. Some car parks in the University Park will be closed immediately before, during and after the event. And a few car parks will close earlier, in early September. Get the details below.

If you usually park on or near the University Park campus, please be aware that some streets and car parks in this area will be closed before, during and after the students’ annual sports day and Denmark’s biggest Friday bar on 13 September. This happens every year. Two specific car parks (next to buildings 1540 and 1171) will be closed for a longer time because of the event.

Why do we have to close these car parks?

We expect that about 12,000 young people will show up at Denmark's Biggest Friday Bar and Sports Day this year. So the organisers can set up and manage the festival site, some car parks around the University Park will be closed immediately before, during and immediately after the event. The organisers need these spaces to set up the festival area, create safe exit routes, and ensure everyone’s safety.

Two of the car parks (next to buildings 1540 and 1171) will close earlier in September. This is because all the equipment and materials needed for the festival will be dropped off and distributed from here – things like fencing, stage materials, road plates, portable toilets, and so on.

We also need to lay down extra road plates this year to protect the recently sown grass on the former gravel lot next to the car park by building 1540, where a new waste collection site is being built. This is why the car park by building 1540 will have to be closed for a longer period.

We’re doing our best to minimise the inconvenience for students and staff who need to park near and on the Aarhus campus, and closures are only happening where absolutely necessary.

Here’s which car parks will be closed and when:
