Get in shape with your colleagues

The AU fitness centre (AU Motion) offers exercise facilities and classes for current and former employees of Aarhus University. And the autumn season has just started!

Welcome to AU Motion fitness centre At the AU Motion fitness centre, there are lots of different ways to get in shape and have fun with other AU staff, current and former.

I’m sure you know the feeling: It’s getting colder, the car (or bus) is cozy and warm, so you leave your bike in the garage, and it’s harder to find the motivation for a walk after dinner.

Fortunately, you don’t have to turn into a complete couch potato. At the AU fitness centre, you’ll find great exercise facilities and lots of different classes for you and your colleagues. And the price is right: just 100 kroner a month.

Helle Nielsen, chair of the fitness centre association board, also highlights how inclusive and welcoming the fitness centre is.

“AU Motion was created by a group of colleagues from AU from across the university. Everyone can work out here, from beginners to elite athletes. All you have to do is sign up – we’ll make sure you feel welcome,” she says.

The fitness centre at Paludan Müllers Vej 110 is spacious, and has a weight room with weights, exercise machines and other equipment; a studio offering a variety of classes, including spinning, yoga and karate; badminton, floorball and volleyball courts you can book whenever you like; a physiotherapist on staff; and of course changing rooms.

There’s also a cafe and lounge area where you can play table tennis, table football and darts or just relax after your workout.

To use the facilities, you just have to join AU Motion, which is very simple. And it’s not just for current staff – spouses/partners of staff and retired AU staff who belong to the Nestor club can also join.

“We’re just happy to see everyone who comes here. You can work out when it suits you, and there’s room for everyone, regardless of age,” Helle Nielsen says. In fact, Helle is a retired AU staff member herself.
