Dismissals and voluntary resignations at the Faculty of Arts

In connection with the budget process, departments and centres at the Faculty of Arts have now finalised a range of agreements regarding voluntary resignations and senior staff schemes, as well as dismissing a single member of staff at the Department of Culture and Society.

The large number of voluntary resignations has been a major factor in keeping the number of dismissals to a bare minimum. But the overall loss of staff members will leave its mark on the organisation:

“We’re parting company with a range of good, enthusiastic members of staff who have been our colleagues for many years. And we’re going to feel the effect of this – not least at the Department of Education, where the number of voluntary resignations is largest,” reports Dean Mette Thunø.

The cuts have also had a major impact on the faculty’s part-time academic staff, many of whom will not be offered contract extensions.

“It’s not ideal of course, but we were forced to make priorities. We will have to manage without many of the teachers who have played a significant role in the faculty’s degree programmes,” says Thunø.

The final savings have been made by cutting operating cuts (the reception desk at Emdrup Campus, for instance), and postponing the appointment of new academic and technical/administrative staff.
