Special Erasmus+ Grants for countries outside Europe

As an employee at Aarhus University, you can apply for an Erasmus+ grant for stays at various partner universities outside Europe.

The grants can be applied for by permanent staff at AU including PhD students. For some countries, there may be specific requirements for applicants.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Please note that any expenses exceeding the awarded grant must be covered by the applicant or the applicant's department/school.

The grants amount to 180 EUR per day, and a stay must be a minimum of five working days. Additionally, in some cases, funding for two extra travel days can be granted. A travel allowance is also provided, determined by the distance. The amounts are fixed and will be paid regardless of the actual expenses.

To apply, please send an email to the Erasmus Team in the International Office at erasmus@au.dk

Australia

There are two grants available for stays at Deakin University.

The grants are intended for activities that support and further develop the university-wide collaboration between Deakin University and Aarhus University. One of the focus areas of the collaboration is to create virtual learning opportunities that engage students from both universities, thereby contributing to the internationalisation of education at the two institutions.

The grants can be awarded for either teaching or training stays.

The Erasmus grant covers a stay with a total duration of seven days (five stay days plus two travel days).

USA

Four scholarships are available for a visit to the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). If possible, the visits will be organized as a joint delegation trip to UCSC. The target group is academic staff (VIP) from AU Nat-Tech.

AU staff members will participate in a small joint program organized by UCSC and are also responsible for arranging their own meetings with relevant UCSC staff. It is expected that the meetings will focus on the following themes:

  • Increased student exchange between UCSC and AU
  • Recruitment of UCSC students for full master’s programs at AU
  • Opportunities for offering joint online teaching (e.g., in the form of COIL)
  • Research collaboration and associated funding

The visit will last five days, excluding travel time. The Erasmus scholarship is EUR 2,760 per person. Costs exceeding the scholarship amount must be covered by the institute or department.

Participants are responsible for booking their own travel and hotel for the visit.

The application should include a brief motivation statement addressing the goals above and should be sent to erasmus@au.dk. Please also indicate whether you prefer to travel in early March or late April.

For questions, please contact Mette Brandenborg in International Uddannelse.

Distribution of grants

The grants are awarded based on a principle of diversity, so that employees from as many faculties as possible get part of the funds.

Emphasis is placed on whether the applicant works with international relations at AU and that the stay contains a future international perspective.

In addition, applicants who have already established contact with the partner university will be given priority.

After your stay

After your stay, you must complete an online evaluation form. This will be sent automatically after completion of your stay.

Payment of the grant

The payment of the grant will be done after you have completed your stay. The grant will be disbursed to your home department / administrative unit. The grant sum is a fixed amount. Please bear in mind that your department must cover any expenses exceeding the grant sum.
