Open Science theme day
On 10 September, the Open Science Forum and AU Research held a theme day on data management and the so-called FAIR principles, which are a set of guiding principles to make research data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable.

More internal and external requirements
The basis for the theme day was that research is currently facing ever-increasing internal and external requirements for data management. In most cases, these requirements are legitimate and reasonable expectations for the responsible conduct of research. However, individual researchers sometimes find the requirements to be challenging and even contradictory. In practice, it is often difficult to balance the different considerations while ensuring that everything is done in ways that are both cost-effective and professionally meaningful.
Around 60 researchers, data managers and members of the Central Information Security Committee (CISU) and local faculty information security committees (FISUs) attended the theme day. This gave rise to lively discussions among the members of academic staff and technical/administrative staff about how the university can best support researchers' work with data management. The Open Science Forum and the Research Data Office will in the coming period work on the many ideas and suggestions that were put forward.
