Good case processing times in TTO

TTO has become much faster at processing agreements and contracts. Most agreements are now finished within a few months, while a small proportion of agreements take a bit longer due to their complexity and the number of parties involved.

“It is becoming the exception that researchers experience long processing times, and long waits are no longer something that chracterise the TTO. This is primarily thanks to a lot of hard work from our lawyers, for which they deserve our recognition” adds the interim head Lisbeth Guldbæk Smith.

The figures speak for themselves
New key figures recently presented to the Research Committee testify to the positive development in TTO’s case processing times:

  • Work starts immediately on 90 per cent of the agreements received, and for the 10 per cent that are queued, work starts after a maximum of 30 days.
  • For agreements received from Health: 50 per cent of those received within the past three months have been completed; 75 per cent of those received within the past six months have been completed; 83 per cent of those received within the past nine months have been completed.
  • For agreements received from the other faculties: 64 per cent of those received within the past three months have been completed; 79 per cent of those received within the past six months have been completed; 94 per cent of those received within the past nine months have been completed.

Why do some agreements take longer?
The agreements that take longer are usually very complex. This complexity often arises because:

  • there are many parties to the agreement
  • the terms of the agreement change during the process
  • there is a lot at stake for AU (e.g. intellectual property rights).

TTO is committed to establishing focused processes and ensuring a thorough initial alignment of expectations to speed up the processing of all types of agreement – including complex ones.
