Dean Johnny Laursen looks back at 2016 and forward to 2017, wishing staff and students at the Faculty of Arts a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Until now, GIR (Gendering in Research Network) has been connected with and financed by the Interacting Minds Centre, but for the next two years, it is further strengthened to the benefit of everyone with an interest in gender research at Aarhus University.

The new rules governing study progress at the faculty have now been finalised. During the spring there have been discussions of the options for changing the original rules that were proposed by the politicians at the beginning of the year, and as a result the new rules come into force on 1 September 2016.

The planned closure of FirstClass is now entering its final phase. From 1 June 2016 you can no longer send or receive emails in FirstClass. Emails sent to the @hum address will be redirected to Exchange (Outlook), and this applies to all employees.

Following the due appointments procedure, acting Vice-Dean Niels Lehmann has been appointed Vice-Dean for Education at the Faculty of Arts.

The Faculty of Arts is the last faculty at Aarhus University to introduce the university’s shared electronic teaching evaluation system. The system has been introduced in connection with the application for institutional accreditation, and will contribute to the overall quality improvement of the faculty’s degree programmes.

The subject areas within media and communication at Aarhus University have taken another leap up the international QS World University Rankings by Subject list this year.

The newly elected Academic Council at the Faculty of Arts has now allocated its official positions. Nina Kofoed from the School of Culture and Society is handing over to the newly elected chair of the council, Merete Wiberg from the Danish School of Education.
