Five appointments in the management at Aarhus BSS
In autumn 2021, five positions in the faculty management team at Aarhus BSS have been advertised – three heads of department and two vice-deans. You will find both familiar faces and a single new one among the appointed candidates, who take up office on 1 December and 1 January respectively.
In autumn 2021, five different positions in the faculty management team at Aarhus BSS have been advertised. Three of the five positions are as heads of department at the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, the Department of Political Science and the Department of Business Development and Technology respectively. In addition, the two positions as vice-deans at Aarhus BSS have also been advertised: vice-dean for education and vice-dean for research and talent.
The above-mentioned management positions are all appointments with limited tenure for a period of three years, which may be extended for a period of up to three additional years. When the positions are advertised, it entails a thorough appointment process, among other things involving advisory committees at the departments in question – or across the departments in the case of vice-deans – which help ensure the academic and managerial legitimacy of the appointment.
Dean Thomas Pallesen is pleased with the number of successfully completed appointment processes and looks forward to seeing both a single new face as well as four familiar ones as part of the faculty management team.
Three heads of department to continue
- At the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, professor Jan Tønnesvang will continue as head of department as of 1 December 2021.
- At the Department of Political Science, professor Peter Munk Christiansen will continue as head of department as of 1 December 2021.
- At the Department of Business Development and Technology, professor Anders Frederiksen will continue as head of department as of 1 January 2022.
Morten Rask is appointed vice-dean for education
In the executive team, associate professor Morten Rask is appointed vice-dean for education as of 1 January 2022, following his appointment as acting vice-dean on 1 February 2021.
"I am pleased that Morten will continue as vice-dean for education and I look forward to continuing our collaboration as part of the executive team as well as the faculty management team," says Thomas Pallesen.
Niels Mejlgaard is appointed vice-dean for research and talent
A new face in the executive team will be professor Niels Mejlgaard, who takes up the position as vice-dean for research and talent as of 1 January 2022.
Niels comes from a position at the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy at the Department of Political Science and has previously contributed to Aarhus BSS in the position as associate dean for EU financing, which he has held since 2018.
Thomas Pallesen says: "Niels has a strong background from the academic field and I look forward to our future collaboration in the executive team and faculty management team."
"At the same time, I would like to thank Per Baltzer Overgaard for his highly competent and solid efforts as vice-dean over the past years. It has been a pleasure to work with Per, and he has contributed substantially to the development that Aarhus BSS has gone through in the areas of research and talent development during this period,” Thomas Pallesen concludes.
