Great interest in Teams Phone System puts pressure on IT Support

Many employees are expressing an interest in moving their landline number to Teams. While everyone will be offered this opportunity, IT Support is currently working hard to keep up with the demand and asks for patience.

AU IT is currently working to replace the university’s outdated landline phone system with Microsoft Teams, which makes it possible to place calls via the computer instead of the old tabletop phone.

At the end of May, approx. 2,000 employees had moved their landline number to Teams, while almost 2,500 still needed to follow suit. AU IT is working to transfer all numbers as quickly as possible, but it is a complicated process.

At present, AU IT is receiving several requests to transfer numbers, and some employees may find that their numbers have not yet been moved even though their colleagues are already using the Teams Phone System.

Telephone numbers causing trouble

But the move takes time. This is because the information about who has which number, which is drawn from the employee master data, does not always correspond to reality. Information can be inaccurate if an employee has changed jobs internally or inherited a phone number from someone else.

AU IT Project Manager Julie Schmidt Andersen hopes that employees will arm themselves with a little extra patience as AU IT works to reach its goal.

“We are pleased with the positive response to the Teams Phone System, and we are happy that a lot of people are showing an interest in moving their phone number. Every employee with a landline number will get the opportunity to move to Teams, and we’re currently working hard to keep up with the demand,” says Julie Schmidt Andersen.

The extra waiting time only applies to employees who currently have a landline number that needs to be moved to the Teams Phone System.

You can order a number for your Teams account

Only those employees who currently have a landline number need to wait to get this number moved. But everyone can use the Teams Phone System. If you do not currently have a telephone number in Teams, you can get one attached to your account.
