On Friday, the senior management team will meet with managers from the six partner universities forming the international university alliance which has been named Circle U.
In addition to King’s College London, the alliance partners are the University of Oslo, Humboldt University of Berlin, Université catholique de Louvain, Université de Paris and the University of Belgrade.
At the meeting, the managers will discuss specific opportunities for closer academic collaboration on research and education. Additionally, they will continue their work towards a final application for approval as an alliance under the EU European Universities Initiative. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen European exchange of students, researchers and knowledge.
Tomorrow, on Friday 20 September, the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) will host a farewell reception for Professor Morten Kyndrup, who will be stepping down from his position at AIAS after eight years as director. The senior management team has appointed Søren Keiding, vice-dean for research at Science and Technology, as the acting director of AIAS until the end of 2020.
Work on Aarhus University’s physical development is progressing according to plan. The faculties and departments involved are in the process of identifying their needs and options in connection with the upcoming relocations.
Plans to build student housing, an incubator for entrepreneurship etc. are also progressing well.
Stig Møller, Master of Laws and former university director of Aarhus University, has died. Stig Møller was the director of Aarhus University for 28 years, from 1979-2007. He was well known for keeping a tight rein on university costs with his motto 'best and cheapest', and he was an important driving force behind the university's success, both nationally and internationally.
