In connection with the annual University Board seminar last week, on 9 June the University Board approved plans for a four-pronged digitisation strategy, and at the same time gave the go-ahead to launch the first initiative in autumn 2017. The initiative involves educating more STEM digitisation specialists. The aim is to double the number of students and expand the academic environments within computer science, IT and data science.
Aarhus University has so far been granted a conditional positive institutional accreditation by the Accreditation Council, which has elected to follow the recommendation submitted by the accreditation panel in May. Pro-rector Berit Eika aims to reapply as quickly as possible.
Ten principles will guide the strategic development of the university campus in the coming years, for example in connection with the takeover of the AUH premises on Nørrebrogade in 2019. The principles for Campus 2.0 have been drawn up by the senior management team and were approved at the board seminar last week.
Aarhus University has been ranked 119 in the international QS World University Ranking – a slight fall of two places relative to last year.
The QS World University Ranking measures, in particular, the university’s reputation among external researchers and employers as well as citations and internationalisation. Aarhus University has dropped in terms of the proportion of international students, while it has moved up when it comes to its reputation among the prospective employers of the university’s graduates.
Supported by a unanimous recommendation committee, Anne Marie Pahuus will carry on as vice-dean for research at Arts. Under the new contract, she is employed for a new five-year period. The reason for the reappointment is, among other things, Anne Marie Pahuus’s intimate knowledge of research environments, foundations and other partners, as well as her contribution to the inter-faculty cooperation.
Ten research networks have received a total of DKK 3.3 million from the university. The funding will go towards promoting inter-faculty research networks at Aarhus University.
