How to calculate the length of your trip as the crow flies (geodesic distance)

• Find your destination city (or the airport you’re travelling to) on Google Maps (www.google.dk/maps).
• Right-click the red pin marking your destination.
• Select ‘Measure distance’.
• Zoom out, locate your departure location and click on it to create a path to measure (for example Aarhus Airport).
• You’ll see a black line connecting the two points, and the total distance will be displayed.
• The distance will be displayed at the end of the black line or in the white box at the bottom of the page.

Note that you can drag a point or path to move it, or if you want to add an extra destination.

Calculate the length of a car trip between two destinations (on land)  

• Find your destination on Google Maps (www.google/maps) or another online map
• Click ‘Directions’ in the box on the left 
• Choose your start location 
• Click the car icon above
• Select your preferred route
• The length of the trip will be displayed either next to the blue line illustrating the route or in the box on the left.
