Leave with pay to look after a seriously ill child under 18 years of age

An employee who is entitled to benefit when looking after a seriously ill child under 18 years of age under the Danish Maternity, Paternity and Parental Leave and Benefit Act (Lov om ret til dagpenge og orlov ved barsel) is entitled to full or partial leave with pay during the same period.

The university limits, as a rule, the period of paid leave to 1 month per child per calendar year.

The university can afterwards grant unpaid leave - during the benefit period.

The university is entitled to have benefit refunded when the employee has paid leave.
