On this page you can read about your rigths concerning managers and other employees possibilities to make special agreements for senioremployees. The agreements have the purpose to secure a steady and secure a flexibel resignment for the labour market etc.
The legal basis for senior initiatives are:
Aarhus University endeavours to ensure the optimum connection between personal resources and tasks. Age is not crucial, but rather competencies, conduct, motivation, willingness to develop and capacity for work. All employees – including senior employees – have an obligation to maintain their academic and personal competencies on an ongoing basis.

Senior bonus, extraordinary pension contribution or senior days

At the collective agreement negotiations in 2021, the negotiating parties entered into a senior bonus agreement:
From January 2023, salaried employees who have turned 62 will receive a special senior bonus equivalent to 0.8% of their annual salary.
Instead of having the senior bonus paid out, employees can choose to make an extraordinary pension contribution equivalent to 0.8% of their salary or to receive two senior days (paid time off). Senior days taken as part of the senior bonus agreement are a supplement to any locally agreed senior staff schemes.
Employees who wish to convert their senior bonus should contact the HR unit in their administrative centre by 1 October the year before the bonus is due to be paid out. The decision to receive or convert the bonus is valid for one year at a time. Employees who do not contact their HR unit will have their senior bonus paid out.

New as of January 2024:
As of January 2024, a new circular on senior bonus will come into force.
From January 2024 salaried employees who turnes 62 in the calendar year will automatically receive a special senior bonus equivalent to 0.8% of their annual salary.
It will still be possible to take two senior days off every year, which will be with payroll deduction.
It is not possible to convert senior bonus for 2023 into senior days for settlement in 2024.
It is no longer possible to convert senior bonus into an extraordinary pension contribution. Therefor you do not need to contact your HR unit before 1 October 2023 regarding requests for conversion of senior bonus.
