Words are not neutral. We have unconscious emotional associations with terms. By using the tool you will get:
The tool identifies any stereotypical language usage in the text and suggests more inclusive or neutral alternatives. It also gives an inclusion score, which indicates the breath of the text's appeal. This score changes as you revise and replace words in the text.
The tool works with Danish, Swedish, German, French, and English texts.
You can use it in a web browser or directly in Word.
The text editor analyzes the text you enter, highlights the non-inclusive words, and suggests alternatives – words or sentences – that you can replace with a single click. See the basic functionality in this video:
You can use the Develop Diverse Platform for both job postings and texts with the character of “employer branding”. Employer branding texts are texts that paint a picture of AU. They are targeted at the general public as well as current or prospect employees and students. Examples include texts for websites, social media, newsletters, career events, and email templates targeting groups of employees and students.
When you use the tool om a text, you’ll see an inclusivity score, indicating how inclusive the content is. The scale ranges from 1-100 with a high score indicating a low degree of bias. The recommended inclusion score is a minimum of 90.
You can collaborate with a colleague from AU by clicking the “Share with others” button. Enter your colleague’s email under “Shared with”, and they will receive a notification and an email with a link to the text. After sharing, your colleague will be able to view and edit the given text. See how the collaboration feature works in this video. If you share a text with a colleague who doesn’t have an account yet, a new account will be automatically created for the new user.
With “Templates” you can save your best and optimized texts, thereby building a text library that you and your colleagues can reuse. Learn more about using templates in this video.
Note: Saved text postings in “Templates” can be viewed by all users of the Develop Diverse Platform at AU.

Since 2022, AU has been testing a digital tool that highlights stereotypical language in job postings and suggests more inclusive alternatives. The tool is part of AU’s strategic efforts to promote gender equality, diversity, and inclusion.
From April 2024, AU has access to a new version of the tool, which allows for its application to various types of texts in a more flexible manner.
Develop Diverse is an inclusive writing platform that identifies and addresses bias and stereotypes in language that affect various groups such as gender, age, ethnic minorities, physical disabilities, and neurodiversity.
The Develop Diverse software is based on research into language’s impact on diversity and inclusion and is methodically backed by empirical evidence. Develop Diverse continually researches and uses validation techniques such as behavioral studies and country- and language-specific word embedded method.
