On the study portal, students can find information about the compulsory supervision plan.
For supervisors, the recommendations regarding the plan are as follows:
- Arranging a meeting with the student
The student is responsible for contacting you with a view to arranging the first meeting about the compulsory supervision plan. If you do not hear from the student, you should contact the student, because you are required to fill in and submit the supervision plan. - Filling in and submitting the supervision plan
The student fills in and submits the supervision plan using the form below:
Form for submitting supervision plan
The student can either fill in the form together with you during your supervision meeting, or you can agree on what should be included in the plan by email, after which the student can fill in the online form. Among other things, the supervision plan must include the preliminary thesis statement as well as the date and topic of at least two supervision meetings. - Approval of supervision plan
The student’s supervision plan must be approved by the head of department/Master’s thesis coordinator. The administration obtains the approval, and the student is notified when the supervision plan has been approved.
Please note: Previously, the supervision plan had to be attached as an appendix when handing in the Master’s thesis. This is no longer necessary.
Special rules for group theses
If students write their Master’s thesis in a group, one of them must fill in a joint supervision plan containing the information of all group members. Please note that students can only write the Master’s thesis in a group if they have the same submission deadline.
Recommendations for the first supervision plan meeting
Guidelines have been prepared for the students regarding the first supervision meeting about the plan for supervision. Here you can read about what is expected of you in your role as supervisor.
