Last year, Aarhus University received 24,009 applications for its bachelor degree programmes. A provisional calculation for 2013 shows the same high level as in 2012. In recent years, Aarhus University has seen a steady increase in the number of applicants, which has now reached a level that matches the university's strategy and capacity.
The deadline for applications expired on Friday 5 July at 12 noon. Aarhus University expected to be able to report the total number of applications on Monday 8 July.
Some of the world's best Arctic research facilities were officially inaugurated in the past week by HRH Crown Prince Frederik at Zackenberg and Daneborg in Northeast Greenland.
Later on the trip, the first sod was cut for the brand new Villum Research Station at Station North. The project is financed by the Villum Foundation and will be run by Greenland Self-Government and Aarhus University.
The delegation also included the Danish Minister for Science, Innovation and Higher Education Morten Østergaard, Greenland's Minister for Education, Research and Nordic Affairs Nick Nielsen, Chairman of the Aage V. Jensen Foundation Leif Skov, Chairman of the Villum Foundation Lars Erik Kann-Rasmussen, Professor and Head of Aarhus University's new Arctic Research Centre Søren Rysgaard, Director of the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources Klaus Nygaard and Rector of Aarhus University Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen, who was thrilled that researchers from all over the world now have even better facilities in Northeast Greenland.
