The position of dean of Aarhus BSS has been advertised. The next dean will replace Svend Hylleberg, who is stepping down on 30 June. The deadline for applications is 10 May.
The position of dean of the Faculty of Arts has also been advertised. Five candidates have applied for the position, which is expected to be filled on 1 July.
Aarhus BSS is launching a new profiling strategy, two important elements of which are a new logo and the name 'Aarhus BSS'. With the approval of the senior management team, Aarhus BSS will now have the opportunity to develop as a subbrand closely associated with Aarhus University. The aim is, among other things, to improve recruitment efforts. Once the work on the general profiling practice starts at AU, it will be closely coordinated with the new profiling strategy for Aarhus BSS.
Aarhus BSS will start using the new logo immediately.
Four department heads and two vice-deans as well as a consultant from the Dean's Office and the head of communications at Aarhus BSS are behind the proposal.
TECHNOLOGIES OF THE FUTURE is this year's theme at Aarhus University, which is planning a varied programme with a special focus on the natural sciences. Planned are speed lectures, exhibitions, workshops and experiments within such fields as Big Data, quantum computers and the human brain, telemedicine, nanotechnology, fingerprinting cancer cells, automated building construction and much more.
The Festival of Research will take place on 24 April, this year at the Navitas building. The event is open to the public, and admission is as always free.
Aarhus University is also organising Festival of Research events in Flakkebjerg and at the AU research centre in Foulum.
On 24 April, twelve student associations will be competing for the trophy the Golden Bedpan at the Regatta in the University Park.
Since 1991, the regatta has been organised by Umbilicus, the medical students' association, and it has grown from being a competition between two student associations, each with its own handful of supporters, into an event that attracts thousands of students from the whole university. Masters of ceremonies this year will be Danish comedians Simon Jul and Rasmus Bjerg, and Rector Brian Bech Nielsen will make the opening speech at 13:00.
Researchers at AU with an idea for innovative and interdisciplinary research cooperation involving at least two faculties can again apply for a grant from the university's interdisciplinary network funding pool. In this round of applications, researchers can apply for up to DKK 150,000 for 2015 and DKK 250,000 for 2016.
The deadline for applications is 8 June 2015 at 12 noon.
