Theses in WISEflow

Theses in WISEflow look quite different from how they did in the old exam system. One of the biggest differences is that in WISEflow, multiple students are typically part of the same "flow" (exam), and these students can have different supervisors, examiners, submission deadlines, and assessment deadlines.

You might encounter flows where almost all students have the same submission deadline, for example, June 3, 2024, but you could also encounter flows where all students have different submission deadlines.

These factors mean that it can be beneficial for you to check the individual deadlines of the students.

A new overview of individual deadlines

A new flow page has been developed that gives you a better overview of individual deadlines. You must activate the new view for each thesis, where you want an overview of the individual deadlines for submission and assessment. Follow the instructions under "New flow page".

New flowpage

Here's how to enable it!

Please note that you must enable the new flow page for each thesis where you need to get an overview of individual deadlines.

1. Open WISEflow and click on the thesis you would like to assess.

2. Click on “Enable new flow page" in the top right corner.

3. Click on "Enable new flow page". Now, the new flow page will be shown instead of the old one for the selected thesis. You can switch back at any time.

4. On the new flow page, you can now see the individual submission deadline and the individual assessment deadline. The columns will be hidden if the student does not have individual deadlines.

5. If you want to revert to the old flow page, simply click on "Revert back to existing flow page" in the top right corner.

Individual Submission and Assessment Deadlines

When you, as an assessor, click on a thesis in WISEflow, you will see that some general deadlines are indicated at the top of the page:

"Early assessment access" means that you can start assessing the thesis before the formal assessment period begins.

A flow is set up with deadlines that apply to most students in that flow as much as possible. This does not necessarily mean that all students in the above flow must submit by June 3. Therefore, it can be advantageous to check if there are individual assessment deadlines in the flow. You can see this by scrolling down the page and looking under "individual assessment deadline":

If you cannot see an individual assessment deadline at the bottom of the page, you should adhere to the general deadlines you see at the top of the page.

External Examiners

You can find the contact information for the external examiners under "co-assessors":

It can happen that a thesis is submitted without an assigned examiner. Contact the exam administration (UVAEKA) if you discover that an examiner is missing for a thesis.

When one or more students submit their thesis, you will receive an email from WISEflow and from the exam administration.

  • In the email from WISEflow, there is a link that takes you directly to the submitted thesis that needs to be assessed.
  • As usual, you will also receive an email from the exam administration (UVAEKA) if a student does not submit their thesis.

Flows with many different submission deadlines can be open for a long time because the flow is set up with the outermost submission dates. For example, there may be students in the same flow with submission deadlines in March, April, May, June, July, and August.
