2011 AU admissions likely to set new record

6,604 applicants to BA programmes received an offer of admission from AU on Saturday 30 July. Admissions to BA programmes are thus likely to reach record highs again this year - for the third year in a row.

This year's applicants have applied to a broader range of fields, which has led to a major increase in applications to natural sciences degree programmes in particular. Mathematics-economics and chemistry have seen especially dramatic increases of 65 and 46 per cent respectively. There were also large numbers of applicants to modern languages degree programmes.

This positive trend means that AU be able to honour an agreement with the central government to accept at least ninety additional students this year. There are still open places on a few of the university's degree programmes. Applicants who did not receive an offer of admission have until 9 August to apply for places on these programmes.

On 5 August, an event will be held for applicants who were not offered study places. Information on the degree programmes which are still accepting applications will be provided. The event will take place between 10.00 and 16.00 at the Studies Administration Information Centre.
